Measurement, reporting and verification with best- available-science atmospheric-based greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring would increase the quality of nature-based carbon credits. The resulting increases in credit value would provide incentives through carbon markets to protect and expand ecosystems that offset anthropogenic emissions and promote biodiversity.
